After a delightful day of employment, I returned home in time for a bit of a run before rushing off to see The Scarlet Pimpernel.  Early evening runs in October are delightful.

3 weeks post marathon I am rudderless.  The only goal I have come up with for the rest of the year is to top 2000 miles.  This is a sleepy goal, requiring little effort; a scant 28 mpw.

My legs have no spring.  My rt ankle is irritated.  A tempo run might help, but I can't force one out of myself.

Are you doing Striders next year? If you're not doing Boston then you can still enter into the lottery for Ogden in the next day or so. It's always easier training for marathon with a partner nearby :-) Have you done that one before? Don't be a marathon snob. A tempo sounds like the right dose of medicine to cure an irritated ankle. Runners are so messed up.

I don't know about Striders again, Tara. I like the races, but I missed two closer ones that were double booked, including one that my daughter helped organize. I'll probably end up running Ogden for the third time, but maybe Salt Lake would be a good option too. It's been over a year of pretty steady push for the sub-3 goal, and I kind of want a break, you know? No answers, just more questions.

As to the tempo, it's been three weeks since I ran fast. It's like I forgot how.

Maintain and get 100% healthy for now... you'll find the fire/rudder soon enough. You ran a lot of PRs this year!

Kam it sounds like we need to meet up for a fun run. Maybe a pep talk from me will get some fire under your belt again. Whenever you are ready to meet for a run lets do it k. I am open most saturday mornings.

I'm sorry you're stuck in a rut. I understand that feeling all too well, be patient, it'll come back! It always does. Give yourself a well deserved break.
