5:45 am

I'm giving 52 minutes of running 6 miles.  At 6 minute pace, that would be nine.  Ain't nobody got time for that.  6 minute pace, alas, I never knew thee.

But I ran a long and winding road/trail to the V.  To say it was cool and comfortable would be a lie, and I'm not going to lie.

I was parched.

Slow miles...fast miles... who can really say?  I'm going to log quality miles as fast miles.  The quality miles today were a unique form of torture, also known as hill repeats.  Glover Lane, Frontage to Main, 6x.  1st one 1:45.  2nd one 1:45.  Then the gapping/gasping started.   And the borderline hurling at the stopsign.  How silly of me to try and keep pace with Jasmine and Cynthia.  By the end, I'm sure I drifted to around 2 minutes.  The last rise is a steeper section that took me from 90% effort to 105%, at least it felt like it.

If I'm going to be a runner, I need to act like one, at least occasionally.   Workouts instead of aimless meandering about.  This was another step in the right direction.

5:40 seemed way too early today.  Cloud cover kept temps in the 70's overnight.  I guess cool running is relative.  I ran my usual out on the 10k route, but came home the rollers route.

New shoes arrived yesterday; that's usually good for a bump in enthusiasm.  I can't believe how many pair of lawnmowing shoes I have lying about now.  The ratio of shoes to lawns for mowing is extremely out of proportion.

p.m.  16 miles cycling with my daughter

6 am.  Tami and I ran together for 11, then she headed home, and I did three marathon pace miles, plus 1 cooldown.

To what end?  I still haven't signed up for Big Cottonwood.  That's the drop-dead date to BQ.  I'm still trying to determine if I have a BQ in me this summer.  I suspect it's possible, but I'm not convinced it's feasible.  After UVM, I definitely have no interest in running another marathon unless I am 96% prepared.

They say proper prior planning prevents possible problems.  Possibly.
