a.m. 6 with Ash. Her donut was pretty tasty. I wore new shoes; gotta get them ready for the marathon.

p.m. 3 on the new treadmill. It's so quiet compared to the previous edition. As an added bonus, MLB is selling the last month of league pass for 10 bucks, so I bought it and have limitless baseball for the next month, including archived games from the entire season. Have I ever mentioned I like baseball?

Kam, what's the sketch with baseball? By that, I mean what's the buzz of it?

I don't get why the fielders wear a glove - if you compare baseball chaps to the ferocious and brave souls who play cricket, the baseball chaps seem a bit wussy.

In cricket - a real sport:) - the fielders don't wear gloves (apart from the wicket keeper) and the ball's a lot harder etc.

What I've seen of baseball - not much - the guys are about as athletic as people who play darts. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not disparaging darts by putting it in the same league as baseball - darts is a highly skilled sport like golf - but it doesn't require much athleticism.

I did enjoy that film with Kevin Costner; the one where the lightning strikes the tree and all that, but I doubt I could sit and watch baseball.

Only joking Kam:)Strike one. Howzat.

Bam, baseball is definitely an acquired taste. Despite playing quite a bit when I was young, I never developed any skill. However, I did come to appreciate the nuances of the game. A couple memories:

Summer nights as a kid listening to the Dodgers on a scratchy AM radio feed from Los Angeles 700 miles away.

Pitching to my dad while he sat on an upturned 5-gallon bucket in the driveway.

Monday night baseball; before cable or satellite television, there were 3 networks over the air. Every Monday, a baseball game occupied one of the available channels.

I like the slow pace of the game, and find it a great complement to grueling miles on the treadmill.

Brilliant. Now that makes me want to watch it. Love the image of you as a kid, listening to the radio and pitching to your dad. Proper quality.
